Automating wet food is different from automating dry, because the constraint is food safety rather than convenience. That reframes the whole comparison: the meal count is marketing, and the cooling window is the specification.

Read the Cat Mate row carefully, because it is easy to misread. Five compartments does not mean five meals’ worth of safe storage. The published cooling is 6–8 hours indoors, so the honest reading is that it covers a working day with several meals portioned across it, not a weekend.
The cost nobody mentions
Credit where it is due, though: PETLIBRO is one of very few makers in any of our categories that publishes a wattage at all. The reason we can tell you this is that they told us.
What none of them solve
- Multiple cats. The Polar and the C500 both use a shared tray. They portion; they do not allocate. If one cat eats another’s food, only a microchip feeder addresses it.
- Long absences. A 72-hour freshness claim is about the food, not about everything else that can go wrong in three days — water knocked over, a door blown shut, a cat that stops eating. We would not leave cats unattended for more than about 48 hours whatever the machine holds.
- Cleaning. Wet food residue in a cooled tray needs washing after every use, not weekly.

PETLIBRO publishes a 60 W adapter. 60 W x 24 h x 365 = 525.6 kWh, x $0.1834 = $96.40 a year at the ceiling. A thermoelectric cooler cycles rather than drawing full rating continuously, so the real figure is lower and PETLIBRO does not publish it -- but even at half duty this is the most expensive thing to run on this entire site, and nothing on the box says so.

Sure Petcare states 6 months from a set of 4 C cells, so 8 cells a year per feeder. In a three-cat house you need one feeder per cat on a controlled diet -- 24 cells a year for three. That is the running cost nobody mentions.
