A window perch is the cheapest square foot of territory you can add to a home, and the only one that comes with a permanently changing view attached. For an indoor cat that view is the single largest source of stimulation in the day, and it costs nothing to run.

Both K&H perches publish the same 50 lb suction rating, which is far beyond any cat’s weight and is not the number to worry about. The number that decides which one you want is the ledge, and specifically whether it has to serve one cat or two.
One ledge does not serve two cats
That is the same argument that runs through every resource on this site: two separate destinations beat one large shared one. It applies to litter boxes, water stations and resting places, and it is set out in full in the multi-cat household guide.
Making suction work
Suction fails for surface reasons rather than load reasons. Before mounting:
- Clean the glass properly — not a wipe, an actual clean. Residue is the most common cause of a cup letting go.
- Check the glass is smooth. Textured, frosted or patterned glass will not hold reliably.
- Expect cold weather to matter. Very cold glass reduces grip, so a perch fitted in July deserves a re-check in January.
- Press each cup home and re-seat them periodically. This is a five-second job that people do once and never repeat.
The window matters more than the perch
A perch on a window facing a blank wall gives a cat height and nothing to look at. A perch on a window over a bird feeder, a street or a garden is doing something completely different. If you have several windows, pick the interesting one and put the perch there — that choice is free and it matters more than which model you buy.

The single-level EZ Mount gives 27 inches split two ways -- 13.5 inches each, less than a cat's body length, so in practice one cat gets it. The double stack gives each cat a full 23-inch level at a different height, which is how cats share space when they have the option.
