In a small apartment, the litter box and the cat tree are the two largest pieces of cat furniture you own. Combining them is a clever idea with one question attached: does your box fit?
Floor used for two jobs
Giantex: 30.5 x 19.5 = 595 square inches for a litter cabinet and a 52 inch tree.
PawHut: 33.5 x 17.75 = 595 square inches — the same floor — for a cabinet and a 54.25 inch tree.
Merry Washroom Bench: 37.5 x 21.25 = 797 square inches for the enclosure alone, before you add a tree anywhere else.
So a combination saves roughly 200 square inches plus the whole footprint of a separate tree. That is the argument, and in a small home it is a strong one.
The box-fit check
PawHut’s inner cabinet is 22 by 16.75 inches, and 17 inches high. Here is how some of the boxes on this site measure against it:
- Arm & Hammer sifting pan, 19 x 15 x 8 inches: fits, with room at the sides.
- KittyGoHere small, 20 x 15 x 5 inches: fits.
- Petmate Jumbo Pan, 22.05 x 16.55 inches: misses by a twentieth of an inch in length. It does not fit.

Giantex does not publish its inner dimensions, which makes this check impossible before delivery. That is the main reason it is not our first pick despite a published 110 lb cabinet rating.

The picks
The PawHut wins on information. It publishes the inner cabinet, so you can check your box; it adds a condo and scratching posts above; and it gives 54 inches of height from the same floor as the Giantex. Its limit is its own published cat weight: up to 12 lb. For a heavier cat, that is the whole decision.
The Giantex publishes a 110 lb cabinet capacity, which tells you the cabinet is built as furniture. What it does not publish is the inside, so measure carefully on delivery. If your box does not fit, you will need a smaller one.

The two problems with combining them
- Odor rises. A litter cabinet contains smell better than an open box, but it does not remove it, and the tree sits above. Scoop daily. Our smell guide covers the rest.
- The ambush. A perch above the box entrance lets one cat watch another come and go. In a house with any tension, that is the setup our litter setup page warns against.
- Moisture. A particleboard base near litter is vulnerable to spills. Use a mat inside the cabinet and wipe spills quickly.
Who should buy one
- A single cat in a small home: yes, if the box fits.
- Two cats that get along well: perhaps, with a second box elsewhere.
- Cats with any tension: no. Separate the box and the tree.
- A cat over 12 lb: not the PawHut, on its own published figure.
