Cat Trees, Shelves & Perches
Best Cat Hammocks (2026)
K&H publishes the same 50 lb suction figure for its hammock and its flat sill. The rating is identical; what changes is the shape the cat lies in.

Everyone in this category says they tested twenty litter boxes. We have not tested any, and we say so. What we do instead: compile the published specs, read the manuals, and do the arithmetic on what this gear costs to run and how it behaves once there is more than one cat using it. Every spec is linked to the document it came from. Prices are checked daily — last verified January 1, 1970. Here is exactly how we pick.

A hammock and a flat window perch from the same manufacturer publish the same suction rating. That means the choice between them is not a safety question at all — it is a question about how your cat sleeps.
The identical figure
| Product | Surface | Rating | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| K&H EZ Mount Window Hammock | 12" x 23" x 14" cradle | 50 lb suction | 2.235 lb |
| K&H EZ Mount Kitty Sill | 27" x 11" x 6" flat ledge | 50 lb suction | See product page |
| TRIXIE Lounger shelves | Steps, hammock and condo | Up to 12 lb (wall-mounted) | See product page |
Manufacturers' published figures. The two K&H products share a suction system, so the rating is the same and the shape is the variable.
The feature that decides whether it stays up
K&H publishes that the hammock folds up without being removed from the window. That sounds minor and it is not. A window perch that blocks the curtains gets taken down within a fortnight, and a perch that has been taken down does not go back up.
At 2.235 lb the hardware is carrying almost nothing but the cat, which is why four suction cups are enough. Compare that with a wall-mounted set with a plush condo, where the furniture itself is a meaningful share of the load and the published rating is 12 lb.
Where the rating stops applying
- Textured or frosted glass. Suction needs a smooth surface. A patterned pane is not a mounting surface at any rating.
- Cold glass. Suction cups stiffen and lose grip in winter, which is exactly the season a sunny window perch gets most use.
- Dust and film. Clean the glass and the cups every few months and re-seat them. This is the maintenance nobody does.
- Small panes. K&H publishes a minimum glass size for its mounts, and a perch that does not fit is not a perch.
Why a window at all
The Ohio State Indoor Pet Initiative frames varied vertical territory and access to outside views as core indoor enrichment. A window perch delivers both for no floor space, which makes it the highest-value square-inch purchase on this site for a small flat — a point our small apartments page works through properly.

K&H EZ Mount Window Hammock Kitty Sill
K&H Pet Products · Window hammock · Our score 7.8/10
#ad No verified live price right now, so we show none rather than a stale one. How we're funded.
A 50 lb published suction rating on a hammock that folds flat against the glass without coming off, which is the detail that lets it share a window with curtains.
Published specs
| Dimensions | 12" x 23" x 14" |
|---|---|
| Suction rating | Up to 50 lb (K&H) |
| Weight | 2.235 lb |
| Material | Polyester |
| Included | 2 Twist n' Turn and 2 regular suction cups |
| Folding | Folds up without removing it from the window |
| Pad | Washable K&H Amazin' Kitty Pad, insulating |
K&H publishes the same 50 lb suction figure for its flat single-level sill and this hammock. The rating is identical because the cups are identical -- what differs is the shape the cat lies in. A hammock cradles; a flat sill lets a cat stretch out. Neither is safer than the other.
What the specs favor
- Folds flat without dismounting, so curtains and blinds still work
- 50 lb published suction figure, the same as K&H's rigid sills
- Insulating washable pad, which matters on cold glass
- 2.2 lb, so the hardware is carrying almost nothing but the cat
What they don't
- Suction fails on textured, dirty or very cold glass
- Cradled shape suits one cat, not two
- Needs a large clear pane, and K&H publishes the glass requirement
You have two cats and one window. A hammock is a single-occupancy shape -- the double-stack sill exists for exactly this reason.

K&H EZ Mount Window Perch
K&H Pet Products · Window perch · Our score 7.5/10
#ad No verified live price right now, so we show none rather than a stale one. How we're funded.
Suction cups rated to 50 lb and 27 inches of ledge -- the cheapest square foot of territory you can add to a multi-cat house.
Published specs
| Dimensions | 27" L x 11" W x 6" H |
|---|---|
| Suction cup rating | Up to 50 lb, per K&H |
| Mounting | Suction to glass or a smooth door |
| Floor footprint | None |

27 inches of ledge split two ways is 13.5 inches each -- less than a cat's body length. Two cats will not share this; in a multi-cat house it is one perch per window, not one perch for the household.
What the specs favor
- 50 lb published suction rating, well beyond any cat's weight
- No drilling, so it works in a rental
- Puts a cat at a window, which is the enrichment that costs nothing to run
- Moves to another window in five minutes
What they don't
- Suction fails on textured, dirty or very cold glass
- 27 inches is a one-cat ledge
- No good on a window with a deep recessed frame
Your two cats already compete over resting spots. One perch at one window is a new thing to compete over, not a solution -- buy two, at two windows.

TRIXIE Lounger Wall-Mounted Cat Shelves
TRIXIE · Wall shelves · Our score 7.0/10
#ad No verified live price right now, so we show none rather than a stale one. How we're funded.
Two steps, a hammock and a covered condo sold as one set, so the staircase geometry is designed rather than improvised -- but the published 12 lb rating rules out a lot of cats.
Published specs
| Weight rating | Up to 12 lb (TRIXIE) |
|---|---|
| Set contents | 2 steps, hammock, plush-lined condo |
| Condo cushion | Removable |
| Mounting | Wall-mounted; fixings depend on your wall |
| Floor footprint | None |

TRIXIE publishes 12 lb. FUKUMARU publishes up to 40 lb for its sets. Both are honest numbers and they buy different things: TRIXIE sells you a designed route with a condo at the top, FUKUMARU sells you headroom. For a cat over 12 lb the arithmetic makes the choice for you.
What the specs favor
- Publishes a weight rating at all, which many shelf sets do not
- Steps, hammock and condo designed as one route rather than assembled by guesswork
- Removable, washable condo cushion
- No floor footprint
What they don't
- 12 lb published rating excludes many adult cats and every large breed
- Plush surfaces on a wall are harder to clean than wood
- Still only as strong as the fixing behind it
Your cat weighs more than 12 lb. That is the maker's own published figure, and it is the whole decision -- go to a set rated higher.
